  Shortly after starting work at Red Hat, I participated in the 2004 DARPA Grand Challenge as a member of Team LoGHIQ. During the qualification event, due in part to the addition of Red Hat-style fedoras to the team's uniform, the team was featured on CNN and footage of me working on the vehicle was included in several broadcasts on The History Channel. An article published during the event in the New York Times focused on some of my work. After the qualification event, representatives from a Congressional committee reporting on the Grand Challenge invited me and teammate Seth Cabe to discuss the vehicle.
